Acianthera

Le genre Acianthera comprend les espèces auparavant classées dans le genre Pleurothallis, sous-genre Acianthera (cf Icones Pleurothallidinarum III, Systematics of Pleurothallis ; Icones Pleurothallidinarum XXVI, Pleurothallis subgenus Acianthera).

Les espèces du genre présentent des ramicaules ronds ou aplatis, dressés ou retombants et une feuille sessile. Elles sont peu différentes de bien d'autres Pleurothallidinae. Elles se distinguent par leur morphologie florale. Les pièces florales sont charnues. Les sépales latéraux sont soudés en un synsépale, lui-même soudé à la base du sépale dorsal, formant un tube de 1 à 3 mm.
